In a jail phone call on Friday, the man facing attempted murder charges for an October attack on the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defended his behavior.
David DePape contacted KTVU-TV in San Francisco during the call.
“I have an important message for everyone in America: You’re welcome,” DePape said of the attack on Paul Pelosi at the Pelosis’ San Francisco home.

Instead of expressing regret, DePape doubled back on his purported attack against Paul Pelosi during the phone call.
One apology was reserved for the incapacity of DePape to target other government officials and their kin.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t get more of them,” he told KTVU. “It’s my own fault. No no one else is to blame. I should’ve come better prepared.”
KTVU stated that DePape said he had exposed government wrongdoing on a website, but that he had been “silenced.”
DePape’s statement was made on the same day San Francisco prosecutors revealed police bodycam evidence of him viciously beating Paul Pelosi with a hammer as authorities arrived at the apartment.
In a 911 conversation revealed by authorities, DePape claimed to be a “friend” of the Pelosi family, while Paul Pelosi appeared to be under duress from the suspected house invasion.
