Watch: MSNBC Anchor Gives Kathy Hochul Earful to Her Face on Crime in NYC

    Published on

Up until recently, it was anticipated that Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin, the opponent of New York Governor Kathy Hochul, would easily defeat her. Hochul still maintains a slim lead against Zeldin, but voters appear to be responding favorably to Zeldin’s exclusive focus on the state’s alarmingly high crime rate. Hochul has attempted to portray those worried about crime as fearmongers while her edge crumbles in front of her eyes, as she did during a Friday appearance on MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour.”

Hochul and the show’s host, Stephanie Ruhle, appeared to be on the same page early on in the segment when discussing Zeldin’s backing of former President Donald Trump. The women were worried that if Trump was found guilty of the “significant fraudulent and illegal business activity” that Attorney General Letitia James had accused him of, Zeldin would pardon him as governor.

But when the conversation went to crime in the state, things took a sharp turn. In the video below, when the governor lists the several steps she has done to solve the problem, Ruhle abruptly and strongly interrupts her, saying: “Then I’m going to interrupt you then. Here is the issue. We don’t feel secure since you might be directly collaborating with Mayor Adams and you might have spent a lot of money. However, when I enter my drugstore, everything is under lockdown due to shoplifters.

“I’m not going in the subway. people don’t feel safe in this town. So, you may have done these things. But right now, we’re not feeling good. We’re worried we could be San Francisco,” Ruhle continued.

Since New York’s bail reform law went into effect in 2019 and eliminated cash bail for the majority of misdemeanors and non-violent felonies, crime has increased across the state. Criminals who violate this law are immediately released back onto the streets and allowed to commit new crimes. It goes without saying that this bad law has increased crime across the state, most notably in New York City, where citizens no feel secure anymore.

Her lax anti-crime measures have damaged that state even more since she took office as governor in August 2021, succeeding outgoing governor Andrew Cuomo, who had resigned. This has harmed several New Yorkers. Data from NYPD CompStat 2.0 show that overall crime increased by 29.6% from October 1 to October 30 compared to the same period last year. You cannot simply brush under the rug a nearly 30% increase in overall crime.

The video down below allows you to watch the entire segment. Hochul asserted that “We’ll never be San Francisco” in an effort to defend herself to Ruhle.

The liberal host, though, wasn’t convinced. She responded, “But it doesn’t matter what’s happening in other cities or other states. The reason people don’t feel safe in New York, is why they’re starting to say, can Kathy Hochul be the right governor? Right? It doesn’t really matter what’s happening in Pennsylvania or San Francisco, you need to get New Yorkers’ votes. And safety is a top issue for us.”

You know things are bad when left wingers are calling out liberals like Hochul because of the crime rate in New York City.

The RealClearPolitics average of polls in this race show Hochul ahead by 6.2 points as of Sunday morning. But Zeldin has actually led in two recent surveys, albeit by a very tiny amount.

A poll released last week from the Trafalgar Group found Zeldin ahead by a margin of 48.4 to 47.6 percent, or 0.8 points, in a state that hasn’t elected a Republican governor in over two decades. This is an absolutely stunning result in the deep blue Empire State. CONTINUE READING…
