Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, a Republican, is far ahead of Charlie Crist, a Democrat, in the polls. At the very least, he was.
Sure, with only a few days till the election, DeSantis may be leading Crist by 11.5 points in the RealClearPolitics polling average. But that was before to a controversy being revealed by The Washington Post, which will undoubtedly put an end to DeSantis’ chances of retaking the governor’s office, much less running for president.
And this is a hot one, I’ll tell ya. You may be aware of how DeSantis and Disney have been at odds over Disney’s vocal opposition to his anti-grooming legislation and the governor’s decision to end the company’s tax breaks in the state where its main theme park is located.
Do you know that DeSantis was wed at Disney World prior to Disney becoming aware? Bam! Scoop! Take that, mega-MAGA maggots, truth bomb!
Oh, you mean to say that proves nothing at all? Huh? Why are you conservatives not outraged? Why don’t you throw up your hands in despair and curse the earth, GOP rabblement?
Yes, with less than a week until the 2022 midterm elections, this was news in the ultimate case of media misinterpreting cause-and-effect and/or the time-space continuum:
Before he attacked the company, Ron DeSantis — who is up for reelection next week — was a groom walking down the aisle in a Disney wedding. https://t.co/WoLHVU9bl1

The article doesn’t really make things much better.
According to Hannah Sampson of the Washington Post, “Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has been on the offense against the Walt Disney Co. for months, criticizing the entertainment giant for opposing legislation he championed and signing a law to strip the company of its special taxing district.”
“Before he attacked the company, DeSantis — who is up for reelection next week — was a groom walking down the aisle in a Disney wedding. He and his wife, Jill Casey Black, a former anchor at Jacksonville news station WJXT who goes by Casey, wed at Walt Disney World on Sept. 26, 2009.”
Actually, neither of them were the Post’s scoops. Although The New York Times confirmed last month that DeSantis’ marriage certificate indicated he was married in Lake Buena Vista, a city under Disney’s authority as a component of the Disney World complex, Business Insider technically broke the story on Friday.
More on this story via The Western Journal:
Unless he got married in the parking lot — and I doubt the Harvard Law grad was that penurious — he got married at Disney World. Thirteen years ago.
That’s nine years and change before he became governor and 12 years before Disney gave him a solid reason to actively battle the company’s blatant mischaracterization of the Parental Rights in Education Act, referred to colloquially by the left as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The animus isn’t due to the fact Belle from “Beauty and the Beast” wanted the town bookstore to stock up on critical race theory or because Mickey’s helium addiction sets a bad example for the kids — and it certainly didn’t exist 13 years prior.
But, no, this is what passes for news at the Post: “Bruce Hamilton, a longtime anchor at WJXT, told The Washington Post on Friday that he was at the 2009 Disney wedding. Another station employee, wedding guest and former co-worker of the bride confirmed the Disney location in an email to The Post. CONTINUE READING…
