Video: Voting Issues Hit Arizona, Poll Worker Delivers Bad News About Machines to Waiting Voters

    Published on

Early on Tuesday morning, a number of images and videos posted on social media showed difficulties that voters were having in Arizona voting places.

One such video showed a poll worker informing people in Maricopa County that the voting machines are broken in a post by Tyler Bowyer, the chief operating officer of the right-leaning organization Turning Point USA and a member of the Republican National Committee.

The footage was shot at a voting place inside a nearby outlet mall in Anthem, Arizona.

“We have two tabulators. One of the tabulators is not working. The other tabulator is taking about 75 percent successful. So, 25 percent of them are being misread,” the poll worker claimed in the video.

He continued by saying that the error might be the consequence of a printer issue or that the second tabulator might also be having issues.

When the poll worker assured everybody in line that each of the ballots would be read, a number of the voters present expressed skepticism.

Tuesday morning, another tweet from Cronkite News indicated that there were also broken voting machines at the Burton Barr Phoenix Library.

The tweet included an image of poll workers standing outside in anticipation of the arrival of replacement voting machines.

Poll workers reportedly told KNXV-TV reporter Amelia Fabiano that the location was just being used as a ballot drop-off location until the new tabulation equipment arrived.

Soon after, Maricopa County officials directly addressed the image and provided voters with alternatives.

“Update: Voters at Burton Barr have three options. They can drop off ballots at door number three, wait for tabulator to come online, or go to another location nearby,” the county’s official account tweeted,

The Grand Canyon State is now hosting a number of significant, high-profile elections, including the Republican candidate for governor, former Phoenix television anchor Kari Lake, and her Democratic challenger, Katie Hobbs, who is currently the secretary of state of Arizona.

Prior to Tuesday, the polls appeared to favor Lake, according to FiveThirtyEight.

According to FiveThirtyEight, as of Tuesday, 49.5 percent of the vote appeared to be going in Lake’s favor compared to 47.1 percent for Hobbs.
