US Soccer Celebrates World Cup Arrival by Replacing American Flag-Inspired Logo with LGBT Crest

    Published on

The American national soccer team’s emblem now has LGBT pride symbols instead of the hue of the American flag.

On the wall of a World Cup training facility, the men’s national soccer team has painted LGBT pride colors in place of the red stripes of the American flag.

The competition is taking place in Qatar, a country in the Middle East that forbids homosexuality.

According to ESPN, Qatari legislation imposes the death penalty as a punishment for the lifestyle. There is no ongoing enforcement of this rule.

According to ESPN, it doesn’t seem like the team will wear the LGBT pride colors when they take the field.

The image is only meant to be used by the team’s local facilities.

American players can be seen in photographs from practices wearing the traditional red-stripe outfit.

Photos show the team’s facility decorated with LGBT pride-related emblems, with a graphic on one wall displaying the transgender movement’s colors.

According to the Daily Mail, the graphic was seen inside the American training center at Al Gharrafa SC Stadium in Ar-Rayyan.

In a promotional video posted on Monday, the team’s official Twitter praised the gesture.

In a press conference on Monday, coach Gregg Berhalter remarked of Qatar’s attitudes on homosexuality, “It’s important to bring awareness to these issues.”

Amnesty International claims that a significant portion of the stadium and infrastructure construction in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup was done using de facto slave labor.

The organization said that South Asian migrants who were attracted to the Gulf Arab country to build structures for the wealthy nation were vulnerable to wage theft and coerced into working in hazardous conditions.

According to Amnesty International, some of the immigrants recruited to construct the cup’s infrastructure have been imprisoned in Qatar against their will and had their passports seized by Qatari companies.

According to the Daily Mail, the American national team will play its opening match against Wales on Monday.
