Brittney Griner’s imprisonment in Russia has garnered significant media attention.
In exchange for her return to the United States, however, the U.S. government is negotiating the release of Paul Whelan.
Griner has been arrested and jailed in Russia for illicit narcotic possession.
In 2018, Whelan was detained in Russia on suspicion of espionage. He received a 16-year jail term in June of 2020.
Griner has shown contempt for the United States and its national anthem.
Whelan was a Marine in the past.
The United States has proposed exchanging convicted weapons dealer Viktor Bout for Griner and Whelan.
According to Forbes, Bout was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison and is known as the “Merchant of Death.”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated of the potential transaction, “Our government has communicated repeatedly and directly on that proposal and I’ll use the conversation to follow up personally and I hope, move us toward a resolution.”
Tomi Lahren, a Fox News celebrity, is enraged at the rumored plot of the Biden administration to exchange a Russian arms dealer for WNBA star Brittney Griner and Marine Paul Whelan.
Lahren is incensed that the notion is even being discussed.
Wait wait we are exchanging a Russian arms dealer, the so-called “Merchant of Death” for Brittney Griner?! This is Bowe Bergdahl all over again. RIDICULOUS!
P.S. Griner hates America anyway! Like Lebron said, why does she want to come back? #griner
