Thursday, Fox News anchor and Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson criticized the left-leaning media for “lying” about the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
Carlson criticized news networks, including CBS News, CNN, and MSNBC, for repeatedly reporting inaccurate information about the events of the Capitol incident. Robert Costa, the main election and campaign correspondent for CBS News, stated that five police officers were murdered in the breach.
Carlson stated, “It’s hard to believe he said that.” “Rioters caused the deaths of five police officers. You just heard CBS News tell its viewers that. This must be the big lie theory. The more bewilderingly false a claim is, the most likely you will be to believe it. Apparently, that’s what they’re betting on.”
Five officers who participated in the Capitol riot died of natural causes or committed suicide. Officer Brian Sicknick, who was previously believed to have died from brain injuries after being struck in the head with a fire extinguisher, died of two strokes during the incident, according to a medical examiner’s April 2021 report. Following the riot, officers Jeffrey Smith, Kyle DeFreytag, Gunther Hashida, and Howard Liebengood committed suicide.
