As negative news about the current administration appears, so do assaults on former President Donald Trump, which appear to occur on a regular basis. Trump has resisted all attacks, proclaiming his innocence and highlighting the political nature of the legal assaults, which he claims are intended to neutralize him in the 2024 election.
Trump spoke on Thursday about his plans to travel to Washington, D.C. to face charges related to his actions surrounding the 2020 election, which many continue to believe were compromised. Trump stated that his impending detention was an honor for the American people. Prior to his appearance in Washington, D.C., Trump stated that the persecution he faces is part of a larger problem in the United States.
Trump posted, “I am now going to Washington, D.C., to be arrested for having challenged a corrupt, rigged, & stolen election. It is a great honor because I am being arrested for you. Make America Great Again!”
Yesterday, Trump pleaded not guilty in connection with his January 6th indictment. He called it a “very sad day for America.”He explained, “So if you can’t beat him, you persecute him or you prosecute him. We can’t let this happen in America.”
In addition, Trump noted on social media:
“Every one of these Fake Charges filed against me by the Corrupt Biden DOJ could have been filed 2.5 years ago, but they waited and waited until I became dominant in the Polls, and then they filed them all, including locals, right in the middle of my Campaign. They want anybody but ‘TRUMP.’ Not fair, and perhaps, not legal. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!”
Trump seems to have had enough of the Democrat’s game, and in a fierce statement on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump warned his opponents, declaring, “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!”
Trump’s warning follows his request for the Supreme Court to intervene in the legal actions against him, which he considers to be “unequal.” As with prior statements, Trump’s warning resonated with both his supporters and his detractors.
Trump has referred to his political opponents as “Radical Left Thugs” and noted that he is ahead in all polls, including those involving Joe Biden.
“CRAZY! My political opponent has hit me with a barrage of weak lawsuits, including D.A., A.G., and others, which require massive amounts of my time & money to adjudicate,” Trump wrote earlier this morning.
“Resources that would have gone into ads and rallies, will now have to be spent fighting these Radical Left Thugs in numerous courts throughout the Country.”
“I am leading in all Polls, including against Crooked Joe, but this is not a level playing field. It is Election Interference, & the Supreme Court must intercede,” he finished.
Other GOP candidates are ambivalent regarding the assaults against Trump. The Charlotte Observer reported that South Carolina Senator Tim Scott issued a statement in response to queries about the Trump indictment.
“I remain concerned about the weaponization of Biden’s DOJ and its immense power used against political opponents, ” Scott tweeted. ” What we see today are two different tracks of justice. One for political opponants and another for the son of the current president.”
Former South Carolina governor and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley has not yet issued a statement regarding the indictments.
AP reports that former Trump VP Mike Pence is capitalizing on the allegations against his former running mate by unveiling new campaign shirts and hats with the slogan “Too Honest,” which is a phrase Pence claims Trump used in reference to the effort to overturn the 2020 election when Pence was willing to accept the election results.
Trump supporters are outraged by the indictments that continue to be handed down decades after the fact, but coincide with news of the Biden family’s corruption and Trump’s return to the presidential race in 2024. Numerous supporters assert that the timing and nature of the indictments are suspicious and represent an abuse of the legal system for political benefit, as well as a deliberate attempt to sabotage his campaign.
