President Donald J. Trump advised Republicans to remove Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) from his position of power, citing McConnell’s status as a “pawn for the Democrats.”
“Democrats have Mitch McConnell and his lovely wife, Elaine ‘Coco’ Chao, over a barrel. They will never be prosecuted as long as he continues to give the radical left the trillions and trillions of dollars that they demand,” Trump stated in a statement published by the 45th White House.

In a separate statement, Trump referenced a vicious piece in The Federalist that criticized McConnell and his wife Elaine Chao for their links to the Chinese Communist Party.
This article’s author argued that McConnell is not a supporter of the America First agenda, which Republicans should prioritize in order to win elections.
One user identified as Cat Turd said that McConnell is behaving like a child about Trump’s continued dominance in the GOP:
“Bottom line …
Almost all Mitch McConnell’s primary candidates were crushed by Trump-endorsed candidates – so the coward backstabbing baby is trying to throw the Senate midterms,” Cat Turd pointed out.

Trump has the ear of the American people, but McConnell has the ear of the elite in Washington, D.C.
Jennifer Boyd writes in the Federalist: “For decades, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and his wife, Elaine Chao have maintained a glaring conflict of interest, conducting extensive government business despite the Chao family’s deep ties to China through a maritime shipping company. Now, former President Donald Trump is calling attention to the top Republican’s problematic China ties, while most of Washington remains silent.”

Triggering this spat, Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Sunday:
“Why do Republicans Senators allow a broken down hack politician, Mitch McConnell, to openly disparage hard-working Republican candidates for the United States Senate? This is such an affront to honor and to leadership. He should spend more time (and money!) helping them get elected and less time helping his crazy wife and family get rich on China!”
