Donald Trump declared on Friday that he will pursue legal action in reaction to the extraordinary FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago estate.
The former president made the announcement on Truth Social.
Trump stated, “A major motion pertaining to the Fourth Amendment will soon be filed concerning the illegal Break-In of my home, Mar-a-Lago, right before the ever important Mid-Term Elections.”
“My rights, together with the rights of all Americans, have been violated at a level rarely seen before in our Country. Remember, they even spied on my campaign. The greatest Witch Hunt in USA history has been going on for six years, with no consequences to the scammers.
“It should not be allowed to continue!”
It is yet unclear what legal action Trump intends to take.
The former president did mention the Fourth Amendment, which prohibits excessive searches and seizures of American citizens.
The Justice Department has attempted to conceal several records that explain the reason for the Mar-a-Lago search.
It is likely that the former president may compel the Department of Justice to provide the complete affidavit supporting its application for a search warrant.
Fox News reports that U.S. Judge Bruce Reinhart ruled on Thursday that a section of the affidavit should be made public.
The Justice Department has until Thursday of next week to submit the redacted affidavit to the court for future release, along with a legal note supporting the suppressed content.
In reaction to Reinhart’s judgment, a Trump spokesman stated, “No redactions should be necessary and the whole affidavit should be released, given the Democrats’ penchant for using redactions to hide government corruption, just like they did with the Russia hoax.”
