‘Totally Oblivious or in Denial’: Schiff’s Response to Being Kicked Off of Intel Committee Shows It Was the Right Move

    Published on

Rep. Adam Schiff has been removed from the House Intelligence Committee, but he continues to disrespect the intelligence of the American people.

The California congressman, a prominent and repulsive voice of the modern Democratic Party, took to social media on Wednesday to lament his removal from the committee he exploited for years in his party’s political warfare against former President Donald Trump.

He used the social networking platform TikTok, which is so widely believed to be riddled with Chinese spyware that it has been barred from usage on official devices by many states, practically the entire U.S. military, and Schiff’s own federal agency. And the consequences were severe.

In his video, Schiff claimed that he’d been banned from the intelligence committee he once chaired “for doing my job, for holding Trump accountable and standing up to the extreme MAGA Republicans.”

As anyone familiar with Schiff’s history of deceit could reasonably anticipate, not a word of that was true.

As made plain by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday, Schiff and fellow California Democrat Eric Swalwell were removed off the committee because their presence in a sensitive position posed a heightened risk to the American people.

McCarthy stated that Schiff had employed the prestige of the Intelligence Committee and the idea that it had access to classified information to wage a propaganda war against the Trump administration.

In 2019, he asserted that there was “obvious” proof that Trump “colluded” with Russia to win the 2016 election, despite the fact that the Democrats’ own special counsel inquiry found no such evidence.

Schiff was also the point man for the first Trump impeachment, which was based on a reason so absurd that it would take most Americans a few moments to recall. (Suggestions include Ukraine, corruption, and Joe Biden.)

Schiff utilized the Intelligence Committee as his personal Star Chamber to collect “evidence” for Trump’s 2020 Senate impeachment trial and served as the trial’s primary prosecutor.

In other words, Schiff richly deserved to be removed from the committee and potentially imprisoned. The icing on the cake, though, is his use of TikTok, of all potential platforms, to gripe about the alleged injustice of it all.

TikTok is a social media network owned by a Chinese corporation — the country that is currently the United States’ greatest worldwide rival.

(It is also the homeland of the accused Chinese spy with whom Swalwell became entangled, Fang Fang, but that’s another tale).

The platform is commonly believed to be a vehicle for Chinese espionage; it is so extensively believed to be a vehicle for Chinese espionage that it has been barred from most military equipment since 2019, as reported by The New York Times in January 2020.

Because of its possible ties to the Chinese Communist Party, it has been banned from official devices in at least 15 states.

Nonetheless, he selected this forum to make his case for leadership of the House Intelligence Committee.

    The backlash was severe:

One commenter wrote that Schiff was among American officials who “remain totally oblivious or in denial or apathetic about CCP threats to America.”

Schiff is now demonstrably a liar. He has repeatedly exhibited a remarkable lack of decency that would shame a man or political party with the capacity for shame.

All American conservatives should be relieved that he is not on their side, because he is the type of individual who would make them cringe if he were.

But he is not an idiot. Even if he were foolish, he would have no choice but to be aware of the official perspective of TikTok as a data-stealing espionage danger, given that the budget President Joe Biden approved on December 29 includes a provision prohibiting TikTok use on federal phones, according to a December 30 NPR article.

NPR stated that the administration has sixty days to develop a structure for executing the ban. If Schiff recorded Wednesday’s video using his government phone, he was on shaky ground and running out of time.)

He clearly did not care and depended on the mindless party animosity he has exploited for years. In addition, for a politician of Schiff’s mindset, accessing an audience with no actual regard for the security of the United States is a rich setting for finding targets.

The TikTok angle wasn’t the only contemptible aspect of the video. Nor was it Schiff’s willingness to brazenly lie to his countrymen about his ouster from the Intelligence Committee. CONTIUE READING…
