The ratings for Fox News have been rising steadily for some time.
During the past two years, Tucker Carlson has hosted the highest-rated primetime cable news program and attracted the greatest audience of any program in the history of television news.
In recent years, there has been a discernible increase in the number of viewers who identify as Democrats who watch Fox News, and Carlson has attracted more of these Democrats seeking conservative news than any other host.
Nielsen/MRI Fusion viewing data indicates that Tucker Carlson’s show is the most-watched program among Democrats in the key demographic of 25-54 year olds.
Furthermore, the network itself dominates all competitors.
“As a network, Fox News controls the vast bulk of cable news airtime 24 hours a day. Fox attracts 56 percent of the entire night audience and 55 percent of the daytime audience. Fox also outperforms CNN and MSNBC with Independents and attracts a majority of Democrats.
Fox attracted 58 percent of all Independents who watched cable news, compared to 25 percent for MSNBC and 17 percent for CNN. Fox was first among self-identified Democrats with 39 percent of overall viewing, followed by MSNBC with 38 percent and CNN with barely 24 percent, according to a DW report.
In addition to Fox News’ domination, CNN’s ratings have reached unprecedented lows, according to Conservative Brief.
According to Mediaite, CNN’s weekend ratings have reached a record low not seen since 1993.
CNN’s weekend ratings for the month were the lowest of the year in terms of both demo and total viewers, and coincided with a historic low for the network on Saturday, the 18th, when total demo viewers for the network dropped to 57,000.

In the second quarter of 2022, CNN’s prime-time programming averaged 670,000 overall viewers and 155,000 in the demo. Mediaite claimed that Reliable Sources presenter Brian Stelter joined weekend anchor Jim Acosta in outperforming CNN’s weekday prime-time programming, a rarity in cable news that highlights CNN’s overall ratings troubles.
Fox News reports that MSNBC only attracted 77,000 viewers.
