Another segment of the popular Fox News program “The Five” descended into chaos as co-hosts from the left and right engaged in verbal combat during a discussion of Vice President Kamala Harris.

The debate centered on whether or not black Americans support Harris and allegations she “slept with” the former mayor of San Francisco.

At one point, liberal co-host Jessica Tarlov noted, “There is something really crucial that Republicans keep doing that is a major turnoff to the Black community, and that’s insulting Kamala Harris. You don’t take someone who’s so meaningful to that community and say that she’s a diversity hire…”

That led co-host Jesse Watters to jump in: “Can I speak for the black community for a second?”

She responded, “No!” This prompted Watters to state that he is one percent African.

“We have Johnny go out and speak to the black community two times a week, and they do not support Kamala Harris,” Watters said, mentioning a Fox News correspondent who works for his prime-time show. “Speaking very broadly there.”

“If you have one of the highest achieving black women in the country who’s now made it to the vice presidency, and Republicans and people who talk about her on-air say she’s a diversity hire, she only got where she was going because she slept with Willie Brown,” Tarlov countered.

Watters and co-host Greg Gutfeld both exclaimed, “She did it!? I was unaware of that!” Watters exclaimed, “She slept with Willie Brown!?”

“Is that not true?” Tarlov said, which then prompted Watters to say, “I didn’t know that. Is that how she got ahead in politics?”

The extremely agitated Tarlov responded, “Of course not!”

“I love it when people accuse us of spreading rumors by actually citing rumors,” Gutfeld said to end the segment.

Between 1994 and 1995, when he was reportedly “estranged” from his wife, Harris dated Brown.

After Harris became vice president, Reuters reported in 2021 that “the allegation that Harris ‘had an affair with a married man’ is technically accurate.” However, given that Brown and his wife had been separated for more than a decade, the claim is misleading.”

Following the end of their relationship, Brown appointed Harris to two state commissions, including the California Medical Assistance Commission, which paid Harris $72,000 annually.

At the time of her appointment, the Los Angeles Times reported that Harris, a former assistant district attorney in Alameda County, was characterized as Brown’s girlfriend by several Capitol staffers.

In 2019, Brown wrote to the San Francisco Chronicle about the relationship.

“Yes, we dated. It was more than 20 years ago. Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was Assembly speaker,” he wrote. “And I certainly helped with her first race for district attorney in San Francisco.”
