According to officials, a father in Texas shot two juvenile suspects after they attempted to steal his family’s vehicle while two infants were in the back seat.
KRIV-TV reported that the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident in the Houston region shortly after midnight.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated in a statement that the family had just arrived home when the two suspects “walked up to their SUV, and opened a rear door where their 1-yr-old was seated.”
However, the father fired and hit both suspects.
The wife then drove away to avoid the suspects, according to the sheriff.
“The adult male feared for the safety of his family and fired shots and struck both suspects,” said Gonzalez. “The wife, who was driving, fled the scene after the shooting to avoid the suspects.”
No members of the family were hurt.
However, two suspects aged 16 were sent to the hospital. The sheriff stated that their conditions were steady and satisfactory.
