Survey Shows Tucker Carlson Remains More Popular Than Fox News

    Published on

According to a recent survey, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson remains more well-known among Americans than his former employer.

Rasmussen Reports’ survey found that Carlson remains popular among likely conservative and Republican voters. “Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Likely U.S. Voters have a favorable impression of Carlson, including 36% who have a Very Favorable opinion of him,” the polling firm reported.

“Thirty-four percent (34%) view Carlson unfavorably, including 25% with a Very Unfavorable impression,” the firm added in a release.

In contrast, Fox News now has a lower approval rating among likely voters, with only 52% of voters viewing the network favorably and 24% viewing it very favorably, figures that are significantly lower than Carlson’s. 42% of prospective voters had an unfavorable opinion of Fox News, with 28% having a very unfavorable opinion.

Only 19 percent of voters believed that Carlson’s dismissal from the network would have a positive influence on the network. In contrast, 32% believed that his departure would truly diminish the platform’s quality. In contrast, 42% of respondents did not believe Carlson’s departure would have a significant impact on Fox.

The reason why Carlson’s program was taken off the air a week ago remains unclear. According to a report from late last week, another start-up network is interested in contracting him and granting him free reign.

TMZ reports that Newsmax is interested in giving Tucker Carlson his own primetime show and enabling him to program the entire network. This would grant Carlson a substantial amount of authority, including the ability to decide which shows are presently broadcast on the network.

“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … the news channel is doing everything it can to sweeten the deal for Tucker to come on board — including floating the idea of letting him program the whole channel, not just his own show. That would be a pretty enticing deal point … in addition to having his own primetime show, Tucker would have a say over what shows lead into and out of his show, which can be key in achieving bigger TV ratings,” TMZ reported.

“While our sources stress Newsmax hasn’t formally offered Tucker a job — he can’t have formal discussions due to his current Fox News contract — we’re told the network execs have made it clear to people around him, they would basically give him a big say in rebranding their channel,” the report added.

Late last week, rumors began to circulate about who Fox News might choose to replace Carlson.

Who Will Replace Tucker Carlson at Fox News? ” was the title of a report by Mediaite. Here Are Mediaite’s Top Picks,” in which staff members compiled a roster of prospective hosts who could fill Carlson’s coveted 8 PM time slot. Prior to reaching a final decision on Carlson’s replacement, Fox News stated it would rotate hosts.

Currently, Jesse Watters airs at 7:00 PM ET, Sean Hannity airs at 9:00 PM ET, and Laura Ingraham airs at 10:00 PM ET.

In its report, Mediaite suggested that Fox News could simply switch Watters, Ingraham, and Hannity to the 8 p.m. time slot and tryout a new host in a later time slot. Thus, a more experienced host would merely assume Carlson’s position on the network.
