Surprising New Name Surfaces As Trump’s Possible 2024 Running Mate

    Published on

President Donald J. Trump entered the race for the 47th Presidency on Tuesday night, declaring that he is focused on returning to the White House.

Number 45, as Trump is more commonly called, officially filed the FEC paperwork announcing his campaign and declared to the audience gathering at Mar-a-Lago for the gala event that “America’s comeback starts right now.”

Questions about who Trump might pick as a running mate surfaced after he officially announced his intention to run for president after tantalizing his fans for two years about it.

Now that Republican Mike Pence has resigned, deceiving the country with his treachery, the dilemma is who will be the Vice President’s choice.

Martin Walsh reminded readers of Conservative Brief that a Trump associate had previously told Politico that the former president is likely to select a running mate “from three general lanes of candidates: women, conservatives of color or a trusted adviser.”

Walsh stated: “One person, in particular, might be emerging as a potential early contender for the No. 2 spot on the ticket.”

“On Wednesday, Iowa Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds was elected as the chairwoman of the Republican Governors Association.”

Her biography states that Kimberly Kay Reynolds, an American politician, has been Iowa’s 43rd governor since 2017. Reynolds, a Republican, held the position of Iowa’s 46th lieutenant governor from 2011 until 2017.

In a 2021 story in The Cedar Rapids Gazette, Bob Vander Plaats, CEO of the Christian conservative group the Family Leader, stated Reynolds would make a great vice president. This was the first time that discussion of her running for vice president surfaced.

“As a matter of fact, I think she would be a great presidential candidate right now,” according to Vander Plaats.

“Iowa in many ways has been a model. I watched her on Laura Ingraham’s [Fox News] show with five different governors, and she just stood out,” he added. “So I think Gov. Reynolds — obviously, it’s up to her, she’s not going to run for president — but she would make a very compelling VP choice.”

A Washington Post columnist referred to Reynolds as a potential “Republican star on the rise” in February.

“In addition to Reynolds, media reports have also suggested Trump could be considering Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and New York GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik,” Walsh reported.

According to Robert Draper, a correspondent for The New York Times Magazine, Trump is seriously eying Greene.

Draper said in an interview with The Daily Beast’s “New Abnormal” podcast “that Greene had risen quickly in her first term in Congress by using the same tactics she honed as a right-wing social media influencer harassing Democratic staffers, and she could shoot to the second-highest office in government,” Raw Story reported.
