A senior FBI counterintelligence official shocked Republican legislators with an admission regarding the final report of Special Counsel John Durham.
Jill Murphy, the FBI’s deputy assistant director of counterintelligence, stated during a hearing before the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence that she has not “had time” to read or be briefed on Durham’s report.
The Republican chairman of the committee, August Pfluger of Texas, was “speechless” upon learning that Murphy had not read the report.
“I would highly recommend reading that because we spent four years discussing that — there was uncorroborated evidence. The Durham report specifically outlines the outcome of that. It’s very disappointing to hear this,” he said.
At a different juncture in the hearing, North Carolina Republican Representative Dan Bishop convinced Murphy to admit that she had not even been briefed on Durham’s report.
Bishop stated that the report was “devastating” to the FBI and that there should be “grave concern.”
“Sir, if you’d like a brief on the Durham report from the Counterintelligence Division, I’m happy to take that back,” Murphy said.
“Wow, that sounds almost contemptuous,” Bishop shot back, adding later: “I’m just without words, that the FBI is unconcerned.”
Durham determined that the FBI initiated its investigation into Trump prior to the 2016 presidential election using “uncorroborated intelligence” and that agents repeatedly failed to maintain “strict fidelity to the law” throughout the investigation.
The Daily Caller highlighted key findings from the Hillary Clinton report:
The FBI received intelligence that Hillary Clinton’s campaign approved “a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services,” specifically by “tying him to Putin and the Russians’ hacking of the Democratic National Committee” to distract the public from her email scandals. The report indicates that CIA Director John Brennan personally briefed President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and FBI Director James Comey on Clinton’s scheme, referred to as the “Clinton Plan” in the report. Brennan recorded mentioning the plan in his handwritten notes.
According to the report, the FBI obtained the “Clinton Plan” while relying on the “Steele Dossier,” a discredited dossier containing salacious allegations about Trump’s personal sexual activity, which the FBI knew was funded and promoted by the Clinton campaign. Durham cites a meeting between the dossier’s author, former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, and FBI agents, as well as messages between FBI officials, to demonstrate that the agents were aware of the evidence’s connection to Clinton.
The FBI and U.S. Department of Justice wasted little time investigating Trump, a “significant departure” from how they resisted efforts to investigate claims against Clinton’s campaign, according to Durham’s report.
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) stated that the alleged targeting of Donald Trump provides many Americans reason to question future elections and government agencies and that those responsible must be punished.
Last week, Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, invited Durham to address his panel’s select subcommittee on government weaponization the following week. In addition to arguing that the report proves that Trump was politically targeted, the Ohio Republican is also demanding accountability.
Numerous other Republicans have made identical statements.

“The long-awaited Durham Report confirmed what the American people already know; that individuals at the highest levels of government attempted to overthrow democracy when they illegally weaponized the federal government against Donald J. Trump,” House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik said. CONTINUE READING…
