Since popular host Tucker Carlson was booted from the network, Sean Hannity’s primetime program on Fox News is feeling the pressure.
The average audience for Hannity’s program, which peaked at 1.9 million in the final weeks of May, has dropped to approximately 1.5 million so far in June. Comparatively, Hannity’s primetime program averaged approximately 3 million viewers per night before Fox News pulled Carlson from the air in late April.
Fox News remained the most-watched cable news network in May, despite the repercussions from the ouster of Tucker Carlson. “The Five” was the highest-rated cable news program, with an average of 2.6 million total viewers and 267,000 demo viewers.
“Fox News, in the first full month since firing Tucker Carlson, brought in 1.42 million viewers in primetime – a 37% drop year over year. CNN’s total prime-time viewership sank to 494,000 viewers, a 25% year-over-year decrease. MSNBC, on the other hand, averaged 1.16 million prime-time viewers for a 14% percent gain compared to last year. For comparison, Fox averaged 2.09 million total prime-time viewers in the first quarter of the year, while CNN averaged 568,000 viewers and MSNBC had 1.11 million average viewers,” Mediaite reported.
“Fox News still swept the competition, marking its 27th straight month beating both MSNBC and CNN in total day and prime-time viewers. Fox’s The Five remained the highest-rated show on cable news with 2.6 million average total viewers and 267,000 average demo viewers. Jesse Watters landed second on cable news and cracked the two million viewer mark, while Sean Hannity was the third most watched host on cable,” the outlet added.
Greg Gutfeld, a popular Fox presenter, has also had a phenomenal year.
Gutfeld announced a brand-new book, and both of his cable news programs, “The Five” and “Gutfeld!”, are currently dominating in the ratings.
Gutfeld is purportedly moving to primetime as part of a network shakeup.
The book, titled “The King of Late Night,” will be published on July 25 and describes how Gutfeld “destroyed the mainstream late-night landscape of heavyweights and became the host of the number one late night program on all of television.”
Gutfeld appears to be the most popular Fox News presenter in terms of current viewership.
Recently, insiders have also disclosed intriguing details regarding Carlson’s termination from Fox News in late April.
Following reports that Fox News is about to announce its “boldest and most fearless lineup ever,” rumors and speculation abound.
Wednesday, the Drudge Report broke the news that Sean Hannity will replace Tucker Carlson at 8 p.m. ET. The host of “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Jesse Watters, will relocate from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET. “The Greg Gutfeld Show” will now air at 10 p.m. instead of 11 p.m.
