A warrant for the arrest of South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham was issued over the weekend in response to comments he made during a visit to Ukraine last week.
Graham has been issued an arrest warrant by the Russian government following the release of a video showing him meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and some of his staff.
Graham stated in the edited video that “the Russians are dying” and that U.S. military aid to Ukraine was “the best money we’ve ever spent.”
Even though Graham’s comments appeared to be made at various points in the conversation, the short video released by Ukraine’s presidential office merged them together, provoking outrage in Russia.
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, stated on Sunday that “it is difficult to imagine a greater national disgrace than having such senators.”
According to Monday’s official list of sought criminal suspects, the Investigative Committee, Russia’s premier criminal investigation agency, has initiated a criminal investigation against Graham, and the Interior Ministry has subsequently issued an arrest warrant for him.
ABC News reported that Graham is one of 200 U.S. representatives Russia banned from entering the country last year.
On Twitter, the South Carolina Republican responded, “I am ecstatic to learn that my dedication to Ukraine has drawn the ire of Putin’s regime.”
“I will continue to stand with and for Ukraine’s freedom until every Russian soldier is expelled from Ukrainian territory,” he tweeted. “I will wear the arrest warrant issued by Putin’s corrupt and immoral government as a Badge of Honor.”
To know that my commitment to Ukraine has drawn the ire of Putin’s regime brings me immense joy.
I will continue to stand with and for Ukraine’s freedom until every Russian soldier is expelled from Ukrainian territory.

Graham angered Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in April by criticizing her remarks about a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman who revealed highly classified information about Ukraine and China.
Graham stated in an interview that her apparent praise for the leaker was irresponsible and that the unauthorized release of sensitive military intelligence, even if it supports a political viewpoint, “puts America in grave danger.”
“What they’re suggesting will destroy America’s ability to defend itself. That it’s OK to release classified information based on your political views. That the ends justify the means. If you’re a member of the military intelligence community and you disagree with American policy, and you think you’re going to be okay when it comes to leaking classified information, you’re going to go to jail. It’s one of the most irresponsible statements she could make,” Graham told ABC’s This Week.

Graham proceeded to talk about how the leak had “compromised” the human resources involved in gathering intelligence and emphasized that the United States could not afford to have “a chaotic intelligence gathering system.” CONTINUE READING…
