Next week, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders will deliver the Republican answer to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address in an effort to demonstrate that the GOP is nurturing a new generation of leaders.
On Thursday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell announced that Sanders, 40, will serve as the nation’s youngest governor.
“While President Biden keeps repeating old mistakes and failing Americans, a rising generation of Republican Governors are fighting for families, advancing new solutions, and winning,” McConnell said in a statement.
Sanders, the first woman to be elected governor of Arkansas, stated that she appreciated the chance to contrast the Republican Party’s vision for the future with that of Biden and his fellow Democrats.
