Rep. Zoe Lofgren stated on Sunday that former Trump adviser Steve Bannon is prepared to speak about the ex-efforts president’s to overturn the 2020 election before the House committee examining the 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
“We got the letter around midnight from his lawyer saying that he would testify. And we have wanted him to testify,” the California Democrat stated on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “The committee, of course, has not yet had a chance to discuss it, but I expect that we will be hearing from him. And there are many questions that we have for him.”
As a result of his past refusal to participate with the congressional investigation, Mr. Bannon is presently facing criminal contempt charges.
Ms. Lofgren stated that the session would likely be a closed-door, hours-long deposition similar to those conducted by the committee with other witnesses.
Friday, former Trump White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, who had a front-row seat throughout the administration, appeared with the panel to answer questions, although the specifics of his testimony have not yet been disclosed.
