As “border czar,” Vice President Kamala Harris has been a monumental letdown.
In March 2021, President Joe Biden appointed Harris as “border czar.” That occurred more than a year ago.
The border remains uncontrolled, and difficulties worsen daily.
In May, authorities encountered 239,416 migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, compared to nearly 234,000 migrants in April, according to the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) report released on Wednesday.
The Daily Caller notes that the last event Harris held discussing immigration and border issues was a January meeting with Honduran president Xiomara Castro.
According to a White House briefing, Harris and Castro discussed the “root causes” of migration at this discussion.
Appointed in March 2021 and examining the sources of the problem in January 2022 is not behavior that inspires trust.
The New York Post reported that on a visit to the border in June 2021, Harris claimed “extreme progress” had been made despite the reality that illegal crossings continued to shatter records.
In El Paso, Harris also stated, “We’ve made progress on family reunification…
In addition, we have made headway in addressing the underlying issues.”
