The unfolding drama of President Biden’s efforts to load the Supreme Court is falling apart.
As reported by Republic Brief’s Donovan, citing a story by Jezebel, a rumor regarding the intentions surfaced around the beginning of July.
“Less than a week after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, President Joe Biden is set to nominate anti-abortion Republican lawyer Chad Meredith to a lifetime federal judgeship in Kentucky, reportedly in exchange for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) “agreeing not to hold up future federal nominations by the Biden White House,” according to the Courier-Journal.
Meredith, a Federalist Society member, defended a 2017 Kentucky abortion law “requiring doctors who perform abortions to first perform an ultrasound and describe the image to the patient.” Notably, the Federalist Society is responsible for essentially hand-selecting Supreme Court nominees for the Republicans and insuring that they will overturn Roe.
There are no current judicial vacancies open in Kentucky, but the Courier-Journal reports that the deal is in place for as soon as one opens.”
Donovan of Republic Brief then reported on reactions to the shocking news.
The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that the suspicions were real, and Kentucky’s Democratic governor confirmed in an email that Biden had planned to appoint an anti-abortion judge on the same day Roe was overturned.
The decision was an apparent agreement with Mitch McConnell, and the office of Democratic Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is upset.
The Courier-Journal claimed that Beshear’s office provided an email stating that Stephen Chad Meredith would be nominated tomorrow on June 23.
Meredith has defended Kentucky’s abortion ban, which requires women to have an ultrasound prior to termination of pregnancy.

“If the president makes that nomination, it is indefensible,” said Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear at a press conference on Thursday. “This is an individual who aided and advised on the most egregious abuse of power by a governor in my lifetime,” Business Insider reported.
“President Biden is about to appoint an anti-abortion Republican Kentucky judge to a lifetime federal seat–apparently a deal he made with Mitch McConnell, and a massive betrayal to the people he claims he’s fighting for,” Laura Bassett posted on Twitter. CONTINUE READING…
