Publishing Company Smacks Down Its Own Employees Who Tried to Cancel Amy Coney Barrett’s Upcoming Book

    Published on

Amy Coney Barrett has started writing her next book, which according to her publisher will focus on the reasons judges shouldn’t let their judgments be influenced by their emotions. It would appear the left would do well to heed this counsel.

According to Politico, Amy will receive a large $2 million advance for the book, which is comparable to the sum paid to Clarence Thomas for his own book.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Penguin Random House is urged to reconsider its decision to release the book in a letter signed by more than 600 persons, many of whom are representatives of different publishers.

According to the letter, Justice Barrett’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June violated people’s rights to “privacy, self determination and bodily autonomy along with the federal right to an abortion in the United States.”

More than 625 people signed the letter, with 75 of those being self-identified Penguin Random House workers.

Over 5,000 of the company’s over 11,000 workers work in the United States alone.

The first person to publicly remark was Adrian Zackheim, publisher of Penguin Random House’s Sentinel imprint under Bertelsmann SE.

According to Zackheim, who was quoted in the Journal, “We are fully dedicated to publishing authors who, like Justice Barrett, substantively affect today’s most important topics.”

In response to Adrian’s comments, PEN America also made a statement.

The opening line of the statement read, “PEN America rejects calls for the cancellation of a planned book by Supreme Court Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett,”

The statement stated, “It is the role of major publishers to make available a wide array of ideas and perspectives.”

This is not the left’s first attempt to discredit a well-known person due to their individual ideas.

The Supreme Court has been affected by cancel culture, which has a broad impact on the TV industry, humor, and other fields.

The Bachelor host Chris Harrison was accused of being racist for requesting that the mob not draw conclusions about a lady based on a single image, and it seems that not even Teddy Roosevelt is safe. The Rock was assaulted for daring to endorse Joe Rogan.

It is up to bold corporate leaders like these to defend free speech while more and more of us are the targets of political hucksters.

Ironically, those who are attempting to have the book rejected due to the author’s personal beliefs are the ones who most require its message.
