Pelosi Blasted For Silence After Claiming ‘Cold Hard Evidence’ Against Trump

This week, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is facing backlash for her conspicuous reticence regarding the final report by Special Counsel John Durham.

According to reports, Pelosi’s office did not respond to multiple requests for comment from Fox News following Durham’s report that “the Department and the FBI failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law” during the genesis of the Trump-Russia investigation.

Pelosi’s refusal to comment comes after years of statements suggesting that Trump was culpable and colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election. Pelosi went so far as to assert that Trump’s campaign collaborated with Russia to undermine the United States. According to one Twitter user, Pelosi’s remarks should have ended her career.

    Fox News announced:

“This week we saw cold hard evidence of the Trump campaign, indeed the Trump family, eagerly intending to collude, possibly, with Russia, a hostile foreign power, to influence American elections,” Pelosi said in July 2017 in response to news of Donald Trump Jr.’s 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer in Trump Tower, a meeting over which the Mueller investigation ultimately declined to file charges.

Pelosi also urged then-House Speaker Paul Ryan to establish a commission to “get to the bottom of the Trump campaign’s role in Russia’s assault on our democracy.”

“Our election was hijacked,” Pelosi tweeted in May of that same year. “There is no question.”

Pelosi continued to promote the collusion narrative in June 2020 by declaring that “all roads lead to Putin” when it comes to President Donald Trump. Politically, personally, and financially, I am unaware of the Russians’ influence over the president.

Durham determined that the FBI initiated its investigation into Trump prior to the 2016 presidential election using “uncorroborated intelligence” and that agents repeatedly failed to maintain “strict fidelity to the law” throughout the investigation.

The Daily Caller highlighted key findings from the Hillary Clinton report:

The report noted that the FBI received intelligence that Hillary Clinton’s campaign approved “a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services,” specifically one that involved “tying him to Putin and the Russians’ hacking of the Democratic National Committee” to distract the public from her email scandals. It notes that President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and FBI Director James Comey were personally briefed on Clinton’s scheme, known as the “Clinton Plan” in the report, by CIA Director John Brennan, who recorded mentioning the plan in his handwritten notes.

According to the report, the FBI obtained the “Clinton Plan” while relying on the “Steele Dossier,” a discredited dossier containing salacious allegations about Trump’s personal sexual activity, which the FBI knew was funded and promoted by the Clinton campaign. Durham cites a meeting between the Dossier’s author, former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, and FBI agents, as well as messages between FBI officials, to demonstrate that the agents were aware of the evidence’s connection to Clinton.

The FBI and U.S. Department of Justice wasted little time investigating Trump, a “significant departure” from how they resisted efforts to investigate claims against Clinton’s campaign, according to Durham’s report.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) stated that the alleged targeting of Donald Trump provides many Americans reason to question future elections and government agencies and that those responsible must be punished.

Last week, Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, invited Durham to address his panel’s select subcommittee on government weaponization the following week. In addition to arguing that the report proves that Trump was politically targeted, the Ohio Republican is also demanding accountability.
