The White House declined to disclose why President Joe Biden has a list at all and said that they are “not sharing” what determines which journalists get to be on it.
After speaking about the midterm election results on Wednesday at his first significant press conference since January, Biden said that he had been “given a list” of 10 reporters to call on.
“Now, I’ve been given a list of 10 people that I’m supposed to call on and you’re all supposed to ask me one question, but I’m sure you’ll ask me more. So let me start off with the list I’ve been given,” Biden remarked.
The Associated Press, CBS, CNN, Reuters, ABC Radio, TheGrio, Bloomberg, NBC News, and The New York Times were among the sources of the correspondents that were hand-selected. In spite of the room having almost 100 journalists, each correspondent from the designated outlets was given the chance to ask numerous questions. No other journalist was given a chance to question the president.
The White House was asked by The Daily Caller to explain why the president has a list and how reporters are chosen for inclusion.
The White House principal deputy press secretary, Olivia Dalton, replied, “Eh, not sharing. I don’t have anything to share with you on that.”
The Daily Caller asked the White House once more on whether it “not want to say” how people are chosen for the list.
Dalton said again, “I don’t have anything to share with you on that.”

In his lone another significant news conference, held in January, Biden began by introducing a roster of reporters but later invited questions from the audience. After the news conference, First Lady Jill Biden reportedly contacted White House employees and demanded to know why Biden was let to speak for two hours. Jill Biden attended the press conference on Wednesday and sat in the front row for the duration of the event.
Reporters have been yelling at Biden on Wednesday to ask if he will have another press conference soon after months of pressure from White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Biden answers questions from reporters “almost every day,” according to Jean-Pierre.
