In the distant past, Oregon was recognized for its wholesome reputation, since outdoor activities and the allure of the northwest United States attracted many Americans as tourists. The state’s Democratic leadership has gradually eroded this scenario, and the riots that tore communities apart in Oregon in 2020 were the last nail in the coffin.
Oregon is no longer remotely resembling the once-pristine Pacific Northwest locale that it once was, and crime, drug addiction, homelessness, and Antifa have transformed its largest city, Portland, into a third-world hellhole. As a result, some people who once adored Oregon in its former state have given up.
In an interview with The New York Times, billionaire Nike co-founder Phil Knight criticized Tina Kotek, the Democratic candidate for governor of Oregon, and progressive policies that have led to the decriminalization of hard drugs, describing himself as a “anti-Tina person” and claiming he has never spoken to Drazen, the Republican candidate running against Kotek.
In a rare interview, the 84-year-old millionaire emphasized his displeasure with the Democratic Party’s policies, specifically the campaign to decriminalize deadly narcotics such as heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and magic mushrooms while prohibiting plastic bags.
“One of the political cartoons after our legislative session had a person snorting cocaine out of a mountain of white,” Knight told the paper. “It said, ‘Which of these is illegal in Oregon?’ And the answer was the plastic straw.”
Knight has definitely had enough and is now sowing discord in paradise for the Democrat wrecking team that has wrecked Oregon with its far-left policies; as one of the state’s most prominent inhabitants, he is actively attempting to wrest the governorship away from the party.
Consequently, now that Governor Kate Brown’s reign of terror has ended owing to term limitations, Republican candidate Christine Drazan is running for the seat in an attempt to right-wing the state’s politics. The leftist challenger is Democrat Tina Kotek, and Knight is spending money to prevent another Democrat from obtaining the governorship.
The Biz Pac Review states:
“As a result of Brown’s enormous unpopularity, Kotek, a former State House speaker is in serious trouble in the deep blue left coast stronghold and her troubles have led to the desperate measure of bringing in President Joe Biden to help her close the deal with voters despite the widely despised leader being radioactive to Democrat candidates in close races.
Biden campaigned for the Democrat around the country, calling Kotek a “articulate, tough, committed woman” in Portland, a city overrun by drug addicts, the homeless, and Antifa, and evoking former President Donald J. Trump, a familiar bogeyman to rouse the true believers.
“And so, as long as Trump controls the Republican Party, he’s going to have an incredible impact on state legislative bodies, as well as state governors as well,” Biden said. “So there’s so much we can do and have to do, but it takes somebody ready to stand up and lead.”
Kotek’s support for initiatives such as a “meth stabilization center” in Portland, which is not exactly a top concern for distressed Rose City residents, makes it more difficult to convince voters of his candidacy.
