Newsmax Steps Up And Makes Huge Offer to Tucker Carlson: Report

    Published on

It has been less than a week since Fox News removed its most popular host, Tucker Carlson, but it does not appear that he will remain unemployed for long.

There has been much speculation regarding what Carlson will do next, such as launching his own network, creating his own podcast, or assuming a position with a rival network. And it appears that Newsmax has made a substantial offer for this last option.

According to TMZ, not only has Newsmax offered Tucker Carlson his own show, but he would also be in command of programming for the entire network, which has seen an increase in viewership since Carlson’s departure from Fox.

“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … the news channel is doing everything it can to sweeten the deal for Tucker to come on board — including floating the idea of letting him program the whole channel, not just his own show,” the outlet reported.

“That would be a pretty enticing deal point … in addition to having his own primetime show, Tucker would have a say over what shows lead into and out of his show, which can be key in achieving bigger TV ratings,” the report added.

“While our sources stress Newsmax hasn’t formally offered Tucker a job — he can’t have formal discussions due to his current Fox News contract — we’re told the network execs have made it clear to people around him, they would basically give him a big say in rebranding their channel,” TMZ said.

“Our sources acknowledge it’s too early to know for sure where Tucker will pop up next, and it might not even be at a TV network … but we’re told whatever he does, it’s going to be big, disruptive, and will create a seismic shift in the conservative media landscape,” the outlet added.

Megyn Kelly announced Carlson’s departure from Fox News on Monday, stating that the former presenter with the highest ratings cannot go anywhere else at the moment.

Kelly, a former Fox News personality herself, explained that Carlson is still under contract with the network.

“I wanna, I think, break some news for you. Tucker Carlson hasn’t actually been fired,” she said during her Thursday podcast on SiriusXM. “He’s still an employee of Fox News Channel.”

Kelly went on to explain that CEO Suzanne Scott contacted Carlson and informed him that he would no longer be permitted to host programs and would be denied access to the company’s email. She also stated that the pair must now “negotiate an exit” from the network. She also stated that Tucker was utterly taken aback by Scott’s phone call, but that he has not been fired.

“That’s my information, that he still needs to negotiate the exit and that right now he’s not free to launch a podcast or a digital show or negotiate with other employers at all because he’s still under contract,” Kelly continued.

She added that Carlson repeatedly asked Scott why he was being removed from the air, but Scott refused to answer. According to an Independent report, Carlson was fired as he was negotiating a new contract that would have kept him at the network through 2029.

“To me, that is so disheartening,” Kelly went on, explaining that Carlson managed to succeed and help the network succeed through one of its most turbulent periods — the dismissal of long-time CEO Roger Ailes and the loss of two of the network’s top stars at the time, Bill O’Reilly and herself.

“So, why now? What was it that led them to treat their No. 1 star with such disdain?” Kelly mused. CONTINUE READING…
