The nearly 50-year-old retailer Tuesday Morning, a mainstay in the household goods industry, is closing all of its locations.
The closures were announced on the retailer’s website. No official date of closure was announced.
In February, the discount home products chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to the Houston Chronicle. It had filed for Chapter 11 protection in 2020 in an attempt to reorganize.

According to The Chronicle, Tuesday Morning’s request to enable Hilco Global to sell all of its merchandise was granted; Hilco Global is purchasing Tuesday Morning for $32 million.
According to KLFY-TV in Lafayette, Louisiana, 25 states will see the closure of Tuesday Morning stores.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Tuesday Morning had 487 stores in forty states as of February. It has since closed 265 stores.

In 1974, the company was founded in Dallas. In addition to store closures in the coming weeks, the closure of Tuesday Morning’s North Dallas headquarters will result in the termination of all employees.
The demise of Tuesday Morning coincides with an industry-wide upheaval.

Bed Bath & Beyond filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the federal bankruptcy laws late last month.
CNN reported an increase in retail sector bankruptcies. The news source cited relatively recent filings by Party City, mattress manufacturer Serta Simmons, and pet store retailer Independent Pet Partners. David’s Bridal, a national retailer of wedding gowns, has also recently filed for Chapter 11 reorganization.
Prior to the Tuesday morning announcement, an Insider report estimated that 1,400 retail stores are in the process of closing.
