Montana Votes to Allow Babies to Die on Operating Table if They Survive an Abortion Attempt

    Published on

One of the most disheartening outcomes of the election on Tuesday was the rejection of a measure that would have safeguarded children born alive during failed abortions by a deep-red state.

Legislative Referendum 131, which would’ve mandated that newborns who survive botched abortions receive medical care, was defeated by Montana voters on Tuesday.

Conservatives and pro-life advocates were shocked and appalled by the verdict. Daily Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips tweeted, “We deserve the judgment we will face for our wickedness.”

Simply put, this choice was unwise and unsettling. Currently, a state has authorized both the murdering of unborn children and the neglect of already-born children.

Unfortunately, the pro-life movement on Tuesday had other setbacks as well.

Amendment 2, which would have stated that there was no constitutionally protected right to an abortion, was rejected by voters in Kentucky, another deeply red state.

The “right to abortion” has also been voted into the state constitutions of Vermont, Michigan, and California.

After the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which made abortion legal statewide, was overturned by the Supreme Court, abortion became a contentious topic in this race.

Democrats made defending “abortion rights” a high priority during their campaigns, even going so far as to label their opponents who supported life from conception as “extremists” for their stance.

The results of Tuesday’s election show the deep moral and spiritual decay in our country, not just in red-state strongholds like California but also in deep-blue areas like Montana.

As we consider these findings and the rapidly approaching Christmas season, the tale of King Herod comes to mind.

Herod’s megalomania led him to attempt to slay the Christ child by murdering all the newborns in Bethlehem. Following the Prophet Jeremiah’s words, Matthew’s Gospel portrays the slaughter as follows: “A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children; she refused to be comforted, because they are no more” (Matthew 2:18).

We live in a country full of Herods, people whose self-centeredness has permitted millions of infants to be murdered in the previous 50 years in the name of “women’s rights” and “equality.”

As Herod was brutally condemned at the end of his life, Phillips suggested that we also deserve whatever punishment we receive for allowing this atrocity to occur.

Our country requires a profound spiritual conversion. We pray for the salvation of our country so that one day we can all be free from this terrible wickedness.
