Melania Trump Responds to ‘Assumptions’ After Silence on Husband Donald’s Arrest

    Published on

Following the unprecedented indictment of former President Donald Trump last week, Melania Trump once again responded to reports citing purported insiders claiming to know the former first couple’s most intimate thoughts.

She responded to a PEOPLE magazine report citing unidentified sources who claimed she was “uncomfortable” with her husband’s latest presidential campaign and implied she wanted nothing to do with it.

“Melania is not now or hasn’t recently taken part in her husband’s political events,” a source reportedly told PEOPLE. “It is not comfortable for her.”

According to a source, Melania desires her own personal space and life at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida. The source also claimed that she prefers to stay out of the tumultuous and dramatic atmosphere surrounding her and her husband, particularly in light of his indictment for allegedly paying hush money to an adult film actress and a former Playboy model.

“Melania can be aloof and not particularly friendly because she simply wants to be left alone,” the source noted further, with PEOPLE going on to note:

Earlier, sources told PEOPLE that Melania Trump was angry about her husband’s alleged involvement in the hush money payment, which stems from a rumored extramarital affair with Stormy Daniels. The former pornographic performer claims the affair occurred in 2006, less than four months after Melania gave birth to Barron.

“She remains angry and doesn’t want to hear [the alleged hush money payment] mentioned,” a source told PEOPLE ahead of the Manhattan grand jury indicting Donald. “She is aware of who her husband is and keeps her life upbeat with her own family and a few close friends.”

Tuesday, the office of the former first lady issued a rebuttal and advised readers to take such reports with a grain of salt.

In a statement posted to Twitter, the Office of Melania Trump stated, “News organizations have made assumptions about the former First Lady’s position on personal, professional, and political matters over the past few weeks.

“In these articles, unnamed sources are cited to bolster the author’s claims. We ask readers to exercise caution and good judgment when determining whether or not stories concerning the former First Lady are accurate, particularly when they fail to cite Mrs. Trump as a source of information.”

Melania did not accompany her husband when he traveled to New York to be arraigned on the charges, according to recent reports.

In addition, additional rumors of discord between the couple surfaced after he did not expressly thank her for her support in remarks made after his court appearance.

“I have a great family, and they’ve done a fantastic job and we appreciate it very much. They’ve gone through a lot,” Donald Trump said at the time.

Despite this, the former first couple was observed dining and smiling with guests and acquaintances at Mar-a-Lago during Easter.

Page Six reported on Monday that Melania’s recent dinner with Donald Trump was staged and that the former president “urged” Melania to join him as he lays the foundation for a possible second term.

A “friend of the former first lady” told the New York Post that Melania was upset about Donald’s indictment and numerous allegations that she was not devoted to their relationship.
