Kevin McCarthy Breaks Silence, Claims to Have Votes to Fire Pelosi: ‘It Is Clear We Are Going to Take the House Back’

    Published on

After a tumultuous election night, House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) broke his quiet by asserting that he now has the votes to oust Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as speaker.

Although the House has not yet been declared, it appears likely that Republicans will regain the majority.

Georgia may once again require a runoff election for the Senate.

McCarthy asserted that the GOP won enough seats to wrest control of the House away from the Democrats in a statement early on Wednesday.

He remarked, “I want to thank the millions of supporters across this country,”

“It is clear we are going to take the House back.”

McCarthy said the following at a victory celebration in Washington, D.C.

“If you believe in freedom, hard work, and the American dream these results prove there is a place for you in the Republican Party.”

    “We are expanding this party.”

“Now, let me tell you, you’re out late, but when you wake up tomorrow, we will be in the majority and Nancy Pelosi will be in the minority.”

However, Nancy Pelosi is standing her ground and insists that the House is still up for grabs.

“While many races remain too close to call, it is clear that House Democratic members and candidates are strongly outperforming expectations across the country,” Pelosi stated.

    In line with 538:

Republicans are in pace for a majority because they won many of the districts they were expected to win, and they are also in a good position to take seats where they were underdogs and win several toss-up contests.

Florida Republicans had a banner night, particularly in the House:

They picked up a couple Democratic-held seats that GOP mapmakers made redder in redistricting (the 7th and 13th districts) as well as a couple of newly drawn, Republican-leaning open seats (the 4th and 15th districts).

Elsewhere, the GOP flipped slightly red-leaning seats held by Democratic incumbents in New Jersey’s 7th District and Virginia’s 2nd District while winning two reddish, Democratic-held open seats in Tennessee’s 5th District and Wisconsin’s 3rd District. CONTINUE READING…
