What if the extremist far left begins to accomplish what Republicans desire? Democrats would undoubtedly be unhappy. This appears to have occurred this month in Kentucky, where a reporter criticized Democrat Joe Biden for striking agreements with Republicans.
We are aware that protecting Roe v. Wade and abortion is a key priority for Democrats, and that hundreds of thousands of street activists have been deployed to frighten individuals into complying with their position on preserving Roe v. Wade.
But what if their president is attempting to undermine them while they are intimidating and harassing US Supreme Court justices and others in order to get them to comply?
What if their own president refuses to comply? That would signal certain doom for him.
“Democrats in Kentucky are stunned by President Joe Biden’s proposal to appoint anti-abortion Republican Chad Meredith to a lifetime federal judgeship in their state.
“If the president makes that nomination, it is indefensible,” Democratic Governor Andy Beshear said at a Thursday press conference. Business Insider wrote, “This is an individual who aided and advised on the most egregious abuse of power by a governor in my lifetime,”
Laura Bassett tweeted, “President Biden is about to appoint an anti-abortion Republican Kentucky judge to a lifetime federal seat–apparently a deal he made with Mitch McConnell, and a massive betrayal to the people he claims he’s fighting for,”
According to Jezebel, the rumor originated around the beginning of July:
“Less than a week after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, President Joe Biden is set to nominate anti-abortion Republican lawyer Chad Meredith to a lifetime federal judgeship in Kentucky, reportedly in exchange for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) “agreeing not to hold up future federal nominations by the Biden White House,” according to the Courier-Journal.
Meredith, a Federalist Society member, defended a 2017 Kentucky abortion law “requiring doctors who perform abortions to first perform an ultrasound and describe the image to the patient.” Note that the Federalist Society is responsible for basically handpicking Republicans’ Supreme Court nominees and ensuring that they would overturn Roe.
There are now no court openings in Kentucky, but the Courier-Journal says that an agreement is in place for when one does occur.
The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that the suspicions were real, and Kentucky’s Democratic governor confirmed in an email that Biden had planned to appoint an anti-abortion judge on the same day Roe was overturned.
The decision was an apparent agreement with Mitch McConnell, and the office of Democratic Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is upset.
The Democratic party retaliated against President Joe Biden by releasing an email confirming his intention to appoint an anti-abortion judge.
The Courier-Journal reported that Beshear’s office handed over a June 23 email that stated: ‘To be nominated tomorrow: … Stephen Chad Meredith’.
More on this story via The Republic Brief:
Meredith previously served as Kentucky’s solicitor general and as the chief deputy general counsel for former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin, a Republican, which is really going to make the left mad.
In the latter role, Meredith defended Kentucky’s abortion restriction, forcing women to receive an ultrasound before pregnancy termination.
“Biden Reportedly Plans to Appoint Anti-Abortion Kentucky Judge to Lifetime Seat (UPDATED)
Biden reportedly made a deal with Mitch McConnell to screw over pregnant people less than a week after Roe v. Wade was overturned,” Bassett wrote, showing the amount of betrayal she feels toward Biden.
“The revelations of the email with Biden facing increasing criticism from Democrats who believe his reaction should have been stronger to the overturning of Roe v. Wade,” The Daily Mail reported. CONTINUE READING…
