While waiting for the outcome of their gubernatorial contest, Republican Kari Lake and Democrat Katie Hobbs tweeted on Friday night that Republicans still had hope of winning the midterm elections in Arizona.
Hobbs currently has a slim lead in the competition. The New York Times reports that the Democrat received 50.7 percent of the vote while Lake received 49.3 percent. Approximately 83% of the ballots have been cast.
Lake is optimistic, though, since a KNXV-TV data and political scientist predicted that “the GOP cavalry is coming” in a tweet.
“Buckle up, boys and girls. It’s about to get fun!” Tweets from Lake.
From the Data Guru himself:

The initial tweet from the “Data Guru” stated that while it is unknown when the votes will be tallied, it appears that Lake will win the most of them.
The analyst predicted on Twitter that “The next batch of 114k late early drop-offs that were transmitted to the elections department will break in favor of [Kari Lake].”
This is also big. The next batch of 114k late early drop-offs that were transmitted to the elections department will break in favor of @KariLake.

Lake has expressed her optimism in the contest in a very direct manner.
She assured Fox News on Thursday that she will triumph over Hobbs.
“I am 100 percent going to win. I have absolute 100 percent confidence that I will be the next governor of Arizona,” stated Lake.
She predicted she would win in a radio appearance on Thursday, along with Republican Blake Masters, who was vying for Arizona’s Senate seat.
“We’re going to win, probably comfortably, and he’s going to win, and it’s going to be tighter. But we believe Blake Masters has a very, very, very good shot at winning. And they’re afraid,” added Lake.

The Associated Press reported that Democratic candidate Mark Kelly won the Senate seat on Friday night, dashign Lake’s hopes for Masters. Kelly ultimately received 51.8 percent of the vote, while Masters received 46.1 percent.
According to 270toWin, eight of Arizona’s nine House elections have already been decided.
Democrats won three seats, while Republicans won five, and the 1st District election is still up for grabs.
As votes are still being tallied, it is unclear when the contest between Hobbs and Lake will be declared.
