‘I Probably Voted for the Wrong Person’: Video Exposes Absolute Mess with Ballots on Election Day

    Published on

Charlie Kirk, the president of Turning Point USA, posted a video on Monday from a polling place in Maricopa County, Arizona, demonstrating firsthand the issues with vote-counting equipment that hundreds of voters encountered on Election Day last week.

On election day, county officials said that one in five polling places experienced these difficulties because of low ballot print quality, which made it difficult for the tabulators to read the votes cast.

The Washington Post reported that, as opposed to the initial estimate of 20%, the problem with the tabulator reading ultimately affected 70 out of the 223 polling places in the county, or over 30%.

Kirk, a fervent supporter of Republican candidate for governor Kari Lake, shared a video in which a guy makes numerous attempts to convince a voting system to recognize his ballot.

When he originally inquired about which one to use, someone responded,  “One’s as bad as the other…”

    “Choose your poison.”

The ballot was rejected by both tabulators after the voter tried them twice.

“It’s never going to go through, is it?” he declared.

Someone said that the voter before him had successfully cast his ballot on the first try.

The voter said cynically, “I probably voted for the wrong person.”

“This same scene played out tens of thousands of times all across Maricopa County,” Kirk wrote in a tweet.

“How many voters were disenfranchised or simply ran out of time? If the majority of [Election Day] voters were Democrats, this would be the number 1 news story in America still today. Total joke,” he continued.

In the video, the poll worker did let the voter know he may place his ballot in the “Box 3” slot next to the tabulator. It was to be transported from there to the major processing center for Maricopa County in the heart of Phoenix for later counting.

According to county officials, “Box 3” contained about 17,000 ballots cast on election day.

One of the polling places in Maricopa County that had issues with the ballot tabulator on Election Day was in Anthem, a ruby-red city of around 30,000 people north of Phoenix.

At 7:20 a.m., Tyler Bowyer, a member of the Arizona Republican National Committee, posted a video from the Outlets at Anthem voting place. On Election Day, Tuesday morning, the polling place director said that one of the ballot tabulation computers was broken, and the other was only capable of accepting votes 75% of the time.

More on this story via The Western Journal:

“So 25 percent of them are being misread and it could be printer issue or it could be the tabulator itself,” said the director, who wore a badge indicating his name was Richard.

“So when it’s misread you have an option to put it into what’s called ‘Box 3,’ whether it goes downtown and gets read manually or whether it gets refed into our tabulators,” he said.

Upon hearing this news, a woman responded to Richard that she did not trust her vote to be counted if it was sent downtown. She left the line announcing, “I’ll come back.” CONTINUE READING…
