According to a court document filed on April 20 and disclosed this week, Hunter Biden’s legal team argued that the financial information on his laptop is out-of-date because it was “abandoned sometime in 2019” in the child support case he is contesting in Arkansas.
The Washington Free Beacon reported that the motion filed by Hunter Biden’s legal team stated that it was “not an acknowledgment of ownership or abandonment” of the computer, despite the fact that it appeared to acknowledge that the documents and financial data on the laptop belonged to Hunter Biden. The laptop was apparently abandoned in 2019 after being delivered to a computer repair store.
“Evidence of Defendant’s income from three years ago and beyond would not tend to prove his income today,” said Hunter Biden’s lawyers. “Thus, the Court should exclude any expert testimony related to the laptop as not relevant.”
The 20th of April’s withdrawal of the motion was not explained. However, it did so after a public hearing during which one of Biden’s attorneys was asked to clarify whether or not the laptop in issue belonged to Hunter. The judge informed the attorney, who had claimed ignorance, that Hunter must appear in court to explain and respond to these questions.
According to the New York Post, Biden has been paying $20,000 a month in child support since a 2019 DNA test revealed that the now 4-year-old child of 32-year-old Lunden Roberts, a stripper who worked in a Washington club and had a brief affair with the now 53-year-old son of President Biden, is Hunter’s child. The sum was resolved privately shortly after his father Joe Biden announced his candidacy for president in 2020.
