Sanna Marin, the prime minister of Finland, is in the news when a video of her partying with pals was leaked.
When not doing out his duties as a Nordic leader, Marin has a reputation for becoming drunk.
With opponents speculating that she was under the influence of drugs after seeing footage of her dancing erratically, the 36-year-old head of state of Finland has come under increasing pressure. She is one of the youngest presidents of state in the world.
BBC news reported:
“In the footage [of the leaked video], she and friends including Finnish celebrities are seen dancing and singing. She has faced criticism from opposition parties, with one leader demanding she take a drug test. Ms. Marin, 26 denied taking drugs, saying she only drank alcohol and just partied ‘in a boisterous way’.”
According to the BBC, Ms. Marin frequently appears in photos from music festivals and has no problem going out and partying.
She expressed regret for going out to a club the year before after having direct contact with a Covid 19 case.
Additionally, MP Mikko Karna tweeted that it “would be wise” for Ms. Marin to “voluntarily undergo a drugs test” in response to opposition leader Riika Purra’s request for her to submit to a drug test after she said the prime minister was under “shadow of doubt.”
The prime minister announced that Ms. Marin completed a drug test to demonstrate that she was not under the influence, and Ms. Marin told reporters that she had “no problem taking tests.” The test yielded negative results.
” I have a family life, I have a work life and I have free time to spend with my friends. Pretty much the same as many people my age.” Ms. Marin said to reporters.
In a somber speech at a Social Democratic Party gathering on Wednesday in the southern city of Lahti, Marin pleaded to be assessed on the quality of her work rather than what she does in her spare time.
“I am also human,” a red-eyed Marin was reported saying by Finnish media, speaking with a broken voice. She added that she had never failed to attend to a single work task because she took time off. “I do my job. I learn from this,” she allegedly said.
Not only is the in question video proof of wild partying, but other leaks also show the married mother dancing with an unidentified man and inviting topless influencers at her official summer home.
A fresh video of her was published by the Finnish tabloid Seiska on Friday. It shows the prominent lawmaker pressed up against a man who repeatedly strokes her neck as they dance in the crowded Helsinki bar Teatteri.
The center-left prime minister of Finland is being criticized by the opposition for having poor judgment.
Tiima Lokka of the right-leaning Monokulttuuri FM podcast in Finland told NBC News that “She is now surrounded by people who are just taking advantage of her.”
But now that there is another female politician, the party-loving prime leader has moral backing.
The 36-year-old might possibly use some advice on managing her personal life from some more experienced lawmakers.
Hillary Clinton is standing up for Marin, remembering her own scandal from when she was strutting her stuff in power, and advising her to “keep dancing” despite the backlash.
The defeated Democratic candidate for president referred to a vintage photo of Marin from when she also made news ten years prior for getting down on the dance floor and downing a beer while representing the US.
Clinton advised the younger politician to “keep dancing” and gave advice to the PM who was facing criticism.
At the conclusion of the VI Summit of the Americas in 2012, Clinton posted a photo of herself in Cartagena, Colombia, while she was there for a meeting in her capacity as Secretary of State, stating “Here’s me in Cartagena while I was there for a meeting as Secretary of State.”
The encouraging former first lady tweeted, “Keep dancing, @marinsanna.”
As Ann Richards said, "Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels."
Here's me in Cartagena while I was there for a meeting as Secretary of State.
