According to reports, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were embroiled in a “near-catastrophic chase” with paparazzi in New York.
“Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi,” a spokesperson for the couple said. “This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD (New York Police Department) officers.”
“The chase happened after Meghan and Harry had attended an awards ceremony at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York on Tuesday – their first public appearance since the King’s coronation. Pictures that have appeared on social media have shown Harry, Meghan, and her mother, Doria Ragland, in a taxi. The Duchess of Sussex received a Woman of Vision award at the ceremony in New York as she encouraged women to fight for equality as she accepted the award at the Ms. Foundation for Women’s annual gala,” Sky News reported.
“It’s never too late to start,” she said at the event in New York. “You can be the visionary of your own life… There is still so much work to be done.”
Harry and Meghan resigned from their royal positions in 2020 and relocated to the United States, citing intense media harassment as a contributing factor.
Given how Princess Diana, the mother of Prince Harry, was murdered in a paparazzi chase, the parallels are chilling.
“Breaking on CNN right now A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan were involved in ‘near catastrophic car chase’ involving paparazzi in NY. You can’t see this and not think of what happened to Harry’s mom Princess Diana,” CNN anchor Sara Sidner said.

In September, it was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not receive what they requested from the late Queen Elizabeth II, and that they subsequently declined her “generous gesture.”
Katie Nicholl’s new book, “The New Royals,” states that the couple sought apartments in Windsor Castle but were denied.
“When Harry and Meghan announced their wish to move out of Kensington Palace, the Queen offered them Frogmore Cottage in Windsor Great Park as their new home,” the book said, The Daily Mail reported.
“This was not the suite of apartments at Windsor Castle they had hoped for. It was a generous gesture nonetheless, recalled Lady Elizabeth Anson, who died in 2020,” the book said.
“‘The cottage was a big deal,’ she said. ‘The Queen’s entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage. It is essentially her backyard, her solitude, and her privacy. She was giving that up in gifting Harry and Meghan Frogmore Cottage. We all thought it was very big of her. She said, ‘I hope they’ll respect it,’” it said.
“In April 2019, the couple finally moved in. Then, the following month, Buckingham Palace announced a still more significant departure: Harry and Meghan were moving their Royal Household – effectively their office – from Kensington Palace to Buckingham Palace,” it said.
The decision ended Prince William and Prince Harry’s collaboration, which grieved the queen.
