GOP Leader Says More ‘Influence Peddling’ Witnesses Will Soon Be Called In Biden Probe

    Published on

A powerful House Republican committee chairman announced on Saturday that his panel will interview additional new witnesses as part of an ongoing and expanding investigation into allegations of Biden family influence peddling.

In an interview with Fox News host Mark Levin, Rep. James Comer (R-Kentucky), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, blamed “deep state bureaucracies” for turning a “blind eye” to what he claims is a multi-year endeavor by the first family to profit from Joe Biden’s name.

In spite of significant opposition from President Biden’s administration, he said, the committee has managed to make some progress.

“Our job in the House Oversight Committee is to follow the money. And we have more bank records coming in. We’re gonna start bringing in key figures in the Biden family influence-peddling schemes for depositions,” Comer told Levin.

“I think we’ve done as much as we could do with the obstacles we’ve had to overcome,” Comer added. “No one thought I would get bank records. No one thought we would get access to the Treasury, and Cabinet’s suspicious activity reports, but we would not take no for an answer.”

    The New York Post continued:

This month, the FBI yielded to Comer’s subpoena demands and agreed to let members of his panel peruse the FD-1023 informant file, which is believed to contain allegations that President Biden participated in a multimillion-dollar bribery scheme while he was vice president.

For weeks, the bureau had resisted his demands, publicly warning that the informant file contained “unverified reporting by a confidential human source.” Comer and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) claimed they were tipped off about its existence by a whistleblower.

According to Republicans who have reviewed the file, it contains information about two distinct $5 million transactions. Allegedly, Mykola Zlochevsky, the proprietor of the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings, made payments to both Joe Biden and his son Hunter in connection with these transactions. According to the allegations, the transfers were made as part of a plan to exert pressure on Ukraine to dismiss a prosecutor investigating Burisma. The Post noted that at the time, Hunter Biden served on the board of directors for Burisma.

Comer continued by stating that the FBI’s justifications for refusing to give over subpoenaed documents only strengthen his claim that the FBI and other agencies are attempting to shield the Bidens.
