According to a new story, the advisers of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are preparing the groundwork for a future 2024 presidential candidacy.

DeSantis, who was re-elected governor of Florida in November, has not officially declared his candidacy for the White House.

To present, only former President Donald Trump has openly declared his intention to run for president as a Republican.

In contrast, DeSantis, who scored a resounding victory in Florida in November, ranks second or first in the majority of polls gauging Republican sentiment for a 2024 nominee.

According to The Washington Post, which cited “two Republicans with knowledge of the conversations,” aides are preparing for the possibility that DeSantis will run for president based on this level of national support and his rising national profile as a result of his policies to support parents in schools.

According to the article, potential hires have been identified in the early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire, and some seasoned players have expressed interest.

Phil Cox and Generra Peck, who were both members of DeSantis’s staff last year, were identified in the report as important to discussions regarding 2024. Cox is a former executive director of the Republican Governors Association, and Peck was the campaign manager for DeSantis in 2018. Neither responded to the Post’s request for comment on the rumors.

Bill Bowen, a Republican delegate from New Hampshire, believes that DeSantis could do well in his state.

“I’m convinced there’s a good network of establishment party people in New Hampshire that will quickly have a very effective DeSantis campaign,” Bowen said.

According to the Post, DeSantis and Trump lead a list of potential 2024 Republican candidates that includes former Vice President Mike Pence, former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.

The Post also mentioned former Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott as potential candidates.
