Friday’s broadcast of Fox News’ The Faulkner Focus had several fascinating perspectives.
New York City is obviously pertinent to discussions about crime.
According to the New York Police Department, crime in New York City increased by 30.5% in July 2022 compared to July 2021.
That would be the New York City Police Department.
Since last year, police records indicate that murder, felony assault, burglary, and grand theft all increased by between 17% and 40%.
Critics have attributed the surge to “progressive prosecutor[s]” such as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Friday on the broadcast, Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe and former Democratic New York state senator David Carlucci sparred about the city’s severe crime.
Boothe questioned the Left’s stance on crime, claiming that liberal district attorneys had “embraced” and “idolized” criminals by glorifying George Floyd and Jacob Blake.
In response to images of widespread looting at a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles, the former Democratic state senator of New York, Carlucci, described the crime as an issue for both the political left and right.
Comparing the current homicide rate to that of the 1980s and 1990s, Carlucci stated that New York City is “one of the safest cities on the planet.”
He has evidently ignored the New York City police and their own figures.
Carlucci attempted to convert the crime numbers into a rant against firearms, which he believes are the culprits.
He then blamed Republicans of “doing nothing” about guns, which he said murder people across the nation.
Booth was delighted to react to these remarks.
Boothe stated, “He brought Republicans into this, so I would like to respond to that.”

“First, where this is happening if you look, it’s these liberal cities run by liberal mayors who have no idea what they’re doing and George Soros prosecutors who want criminals out of jail, who are doing their darndest to make sure that happens. And, no offense Dave, but it’s your mentality that’s creating this problem because you are defending the criminals. You’re saying that—”
“I’m not defending the criminals,” he interjected.
“I’m not done, hold on,” Boothe said. “Hold your horses. You’re saying that people like me, who’s about to be a first time gun owner, a law abiding citizen who takes it seriously, I’m the problem but the criminals who are the ones pulling the trigger out doing the problems? Those are the people who shouldn’t have guns. Those are the people, but unfortunately, your prosecutors, your liberal mayors are letting them out of jail. So spare me with your sanctimony garbage.” CONTINUE READING…
