Fox News’ woes continue to worsen as the network loses viewers and plummets in the ratings following the de facto dismissal of star host Tucker Carlson.
Initially reported by The Daily Signal, a leaked policy memo reveals that the network’s corporate management has adopted a “woke” posture regarding gender identity.
“Fox News employees are allowed to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity, rather than their biological sex, and permitted to dress in alignment with their preferred gender. They must also be addressed by their preferred name and pronouns in the workplace,” the outlet reported on Monday.
“These are just a few of the policies outlined in the company handbook, dated January 2021, a copy of which was shared with The Daily Signal. Fox also offers to help employees come up with a ‘Workplace Transition Plan’ to ease their gender transition at work,” the outlet continued.
Conservatives have expressed growing concern over Fox Digital’s use of activist terminology such as “gender-affirming care” on its website articles prior to the recent revelations. In addition, the consistent use of female pronouns for individuals assigned male at birth, such as TikTok celebrity Dylan Mulvaney and swimmer Lia Thomas (formerly known as Will Thomas), has been criticized.
Fox received significant criticism in June 2022 for an on-air segment that praised a child’s gender transition as a “inspiration to others.” During the segment, California state Sen. Scott Weiner, a far-left Democrat who favored easing sex offender registry requirements for sodomy involving minors, was briefly highlighted. The segment also highlighted activists’ claims that a child may consider suicide if denied permission to undergo a gender transition.
Several Fox News employees were anonymously cited by The Daily Signal criticizing the progressive policy agenda.
“They want you to think it’s this place that supports traditionally conservative values,” a former producer for “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” told the outlet. “But in reality, they’re pushing this nonsense behind the scenes.”
A current Fox News employee told The Daily Signal that producers for the new 8 p.m. program, “Fox News Tonight,” were instructed not to criticize Mulvaney after the cancellation of Tucker Carlson’s show in April. The source disclosed that this directive originated from the network’s most senior executives.
The report noted in addition:
Fox’s employee handbook states, under the heading “Gender Transition,” that the company is committed to “expanding and strengthening” efforts to “sustain a more inclusive work environment.” The Fox employee handbook is available on Workday, where employees can view company policies and guidelines, according to a former employee who spoke with The Daily Signal.
