Never Trumper Karl Rove, and former deputy chief of staff to former President George W. Bush, Karl Rove has a history of being a dishonest political consultant and pundit. He recently told the media that he knew who the leaker at Mar-a-Lago was, giving him yet another opportunity to criticize President Donald J. Trump over the raid on his family’s Florida home.
Rove made an appearance on Fox News, seeming eager to spread some rumors and hurt Trump with his brand of untruths and slander.
On Friday, he stated on the Fox News program “The Secret Service – and this is just my own personal conjecture, no information other than simply knowing the Secret Service is there – they have no statutory responsibility over classified material.”
When discussing the purported reason for the raid, Rove said:
“Why he was holding on to these materials when he had no legal authority to do so under the Presidential Records Act is beyond me.”
Rove remarked on Fox News, “The Presidential Records Act is clear.”
The speaker continued, “A president does not have the right to leave the White House and pick and choose what documents he wants to take with him. He can ask for copies, but those are the property of the American people, and since 1978 no president has left with sort of picking and choosing their own documents.”
“But they are sworn federal law officers. They are law enforcement, and they have a responsibility to report a crime, and particularly after a letter is sent from one of the president’s lawyers saying we don’t have any more classified material,” he added.
The former presidential advisor explained, “If somebody sent a letter and said we don’t have classified material, and somebody in the Secret Service said I have seen classified material still in the walls of Mar-a-Lago and had a responsibility to report that through the chain of command or maybe directly to the counterintelligence division.”
“They would have somebody who had said, in essence. you have been misled, whether it was a deliberate lie or a lie based in ignorance, somebody told you there’s no more classified material here, there is classified material here.,” he added.

He wasn’t the first to speculate about the identity of the leaker.
According to Carmine Sabia for Conservative Brief, “Mary Trump, Donald Trump’s far-left niece who has been smearing him in the media for years, suggested his son-in-law Jared Kushner could be the mole in the Trump camp who tipped off the FBI about confidential documents that were being held at Mar-a-Lago.”
Attorney General Merrick Garland authorized the raid, although it’s thought that a confidential source provided information to federal investigators prior to that.
“During an interview with liberal host Dean Obeidallah, she speculated that Jared Kushner, the husband of Ivanka Trump, was the confidential source that tipped off the FBI to what confidential documents were being held at Mar-a-Lago and where they were located.
Mary Trump was asked who the informer could be and said it was “tough to choose,” but pointed to Kushner,” Sabia reported.
“I think we need to look very hard at why Jared got $2 billion. We need to look very hard at why he has been so quiet for so many months now. And we need to think about who, if it, who could also be implicated in this that would need as big a play as turning Donald in, in order to get out of trouble, or at least to mitigate the trouble they’re in,” Mary Trump stated.
“It sounds like somebody in Jared’s position. I’m not saying it’s Jared, but it could be,” she continued.

Mick Mulvaney, who served as acting chief of staff during Trump’s presidency, offered an idea last week on who he believes tipped off the FBI prior to the raid.
During an interview on CNN, Mulvaney said he believes someone within Trump’s circle could be the mole.
Below is a transcript of the exchange with CNN’s Brianna Keilar:
KEILAR: “How close do you think that person in Trump’s orbit would have to be to know the details about where the documents were?” CONTINUE READING…
