After having a stroke in May, just before the primary, then-Pennsylvania Democratic Senate nominee John Fetterman did not appear to be doing well on the campaign trail. As a result, his wife Gisele frequently spoke on his behalf, whether it was to introduce him at an event or to respond to inquiries during interviews as well as other public speaking engagements in which she seemed to enjoy taking the lead.
As a result of her propensity for doing so, John Fetterman’s detractors as well as some members of the mainstream press at the time expressed doubts and questions about who was in charge during the campaign and, more importantly, whether Pennsylvanians could anticipate more of the same if Fetterman were to win.
Well, after defeating GOP candidate Mehmet Oz on Tuesday, John Fetterman is officially the senator-elect. Unsurprisingly, the following occurred on Fetterman’s first day of orientation in Washington, D.C.

Observe anything odd about the picture? He is largely cropped out of the picture, giving the impression that she was an afterthought. She is also seen in the photograph more prominently than he is.
Some assisted her by adjusting the cropping to better suit her requirements:

Others noted that Mrs. Fetterman appeared to have a history of uploading images in which her husband’s body parts were severed:
I’ve never seen passive aggressive/contemptuous photo crops like this before. It’s wild. pic.twitter.com/VdT9nvVkVW

And instead of providing us with an update on how her husband was doing on his first day adjusting to how things worked in the U.S. Senate, the Mrs. instead gave us a fashion update.
“Also me a few hours into Senate spouse orientation … when someone said: I love your dress … ‘thanks, it’s thrifted! $12!’” she wrote because it was what everyone truly wanted to know.
A Huffington Post reporter asked John Fetterman this really important question as he went past him: Would he ever try to wear his hoodie on the Senate floor? Not to be outdone, a John Fetterman adviser gave an update on what he will be wearing to work each day.
Fetterman remained silent.
“1) John Fetterman has a suit and will wear it to the Capitol. 2) He is still recovering from a stroke and has lingering auditory processing challenges. The way Hill reporters are used to yelling questions at Senators will not work here,” founder of New Deal Strategies, Rebecca Katz stated.
It’s unclear who will be in charge of things after John Fetterman officially assumes office in January. Whether the question is posed angrily or subtly, without Gisele Fetterman demanding an apology from whoever is courageous enough to ask it, remains to be seen.
If you were one of the Pennsylvanians who voted for John Fetterman to run for the Senate, keep this in mind when things get weirder yet.
