Disgraced Former Biden Admin Official Gets Off Easy with Plea Deal After Being Charged with Felony

    Published on

A former bureaucrat in the administration of President Joe Biden who identifies as “non-binary” received a suspended sentence in Las Vegas after pleading “no contest” to felony charges.

Sam Brinton was captured on camera snatching a woman’s luggage from Harry International Airport in Las Vegas on July 6, 2022.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, he was given a suspended 180-day prison sentence and ordered to pay $3,670.74 in restitution to the victim.

According to court documents cited by KLAS-TV from the Las Vegas Justice Court, he must also avoid conflict.

The outlet reports that Brinton was initially charged with a felony because the value of the stolen property exceeded the legal limit for misdemeanor larceny in Las Vegas, which is $1,200.

In 2022, Brinton served as the Office of Nuclear Energy’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Spent Fuel and Waste Disposal for approximately six months.

According to KMSP-TV, Brinton faces similar charges in Minneapolis, where he was charged with a felony in the autumn for allegedly stealing a piece of luggage.

Brinton’s initial court appearance in this matter occurred on February 16 at the Minneapolis Public Safety Facility, and he was released without posting bond, according to KARE. The sole restriction placed on him was a warning not to approach the victim.

The station stated that Brinton can participate in the remaining court proceedings via Zoom.

The Daily Mail of the United Kingdom reported that Brinton was bombarded with queries from the media as he left court, none of which he answered.

According to court documents obtained by KARE, Brinton was captured on surveillance video carrying a satchel matching the description of a reported missing item.

According to court documents, Brinton confessed to stealing the luggage but claimed the contents were left in his hotel room when he returned to Washington. According to police, nothing was found there.

According to a KLAS-TV report from December, the Department of Energy fired Brinton after he was accused with the Nevada theft.

Surveillance footage, according to the police, showed Brinton acting suspiciously in this case.

“Specifically, Brinton pulled the victim’s luggage from the carousel and examined the tag. Then placed it back on the carousel, looking in all directions for anyone who might be watching, or might approach. Pulling it back off the carousel and demonstrating the same behavior by looking around before walking away with it quickly,” his arrest warrant said.

“Police reviewed possible leads but were unsuccessful in identifying the suspect until an officer saw a news article in November identifying Sam Brinton as a suspect in luggage theft at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport on Sept. 16,” KLAS-TV reported Wednesday. “Photos in the news stories matched the suspect in the Las Vegas luggage theft, according to the warrant.”
