And then it’s over in an instant.

Following the Nov. 8 midterm elections, the GOP regained control of the House, prompting Pelosi’s announcement.
To be clear, Pelosi has simply stated that she is stepping down from her position as speaker. She has made it clear that she will not be leaving Congress.
You can see her entire comments below:
Pelosi also said that the recent violence against her husband played a role in helping her reevaluate her priorities. This action has been in the works for some time.
In his own home, Paul Pelosi, 82, allegedly came under hammer attack. The encounter appears to have been traumatic enough to factor into Nancy’s decision to resign, even if much of the incident’s specifics remain mostly unknown.
It’s possible that Pelosi’s decision to resign was also influenced by the already heated political climate following the midterm elections.
The latest announcement by former President Donald Trump to run for president once more in 2024 may be too much for Pelosi to handle.
After all, she is 82 years old. Pelosi is a full two years older than President Joe Biden, and opposing a potential future president at every turn can’t possibly seem that pleasant, for somebody who prefers to focus on his or her cognitive ability.
Additionally, Trump’s dislike for Pelosi has been made quite plain by his recent reference to her as “an animal.”
Trump and the majority of Republicans are unlikely to cry over Pelosi’s resignation, but it didn’t stop the usual suspects from praising her:

When I think of Nancy Pelosi, I think of dignity.
History will note her as the most consequential Speaker of the House of Representatives in history – she is first, last, and always for the people. America owes her a debt of gratitude for her service, patriotism, and dignity. pic.twitter.com/U2xvEVC1E5

After the unexpected midterm results, where Democrats performed significantly better than anyone had predicted, Joe Biden allegedly requested Pelosi to serve another term.
