As Republican Senator Roy Blunt announces his retirement and a number of candidates vie for the position, attention is focused on the Missouri Senate GOP primary battle.
The candidates for the position that has now been called included former governor of Missouri Eric Greitens, state attorney general Eric Schmitt, and Eric McElroy.
With three Erics running for the Senate seat this week—Eric Greitens, Eric Schmitt, and Eric McElroy—the previous president Donald Trump sparked controversy earlier this week when he endorsed “ERIC.”
“I trust the Great People of Missouri, on this one, to make up their own minds, much as they did when they gave me landslide victories in the 2016 and 2020 Elections, and I am therefore proud to announce that ERIC has my Complete and Total Endorsement! Voters “Must send a MAGA Champion and True Warrior to the U.S. Senate, someone who will fight for Border Security, Election Integrity, our Military, and Great Veterans, together with having a powerful toughness on Crime and the Border,” Trump stated.
Soon after Trump’s comment, Greitens and Schmitt both asserted that Trump was fully behind them.
“President Trump has looked at the candidates and all that’s at stake in this race, and he has given me his COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT!” read Schmitt’s email requesting donations for his campaign.
“Honored to have the support of President Trump! We will MAGA! ” Tweeted Greitens Greitens has connections to Kimberly Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr. He also posted a video of Guilfoyle endorsing him.
Former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens was involved in a number of scandals, including claims of abuse against him by his ex-wife and their kid. According to the Conservative Brief, Greitens has refuted the accusations.
The internal fighting, according to a Trump adviser, showed the previous president’s continued influence and authority within the party.
The adviser observed that “Instead of talking about Missouri, the Erics are debating what Trump’s endorsement means. Yes, it’s an epic troll.”
Eric Schmitt, the state’s attorney general, has been crowned the victor over the other Erics.
