Biden’s New Spending Proposal Would Mean Almost $700 Per US Taxpayer Is Sent to Ukraine

    Published on

On Tuesday, the Biden administration demanded an additional $38 billion in aid for Ukraine.

This occurred after two Polish farmers were killed when a missile believed to have been fired by the Russians reached Poland.

The missile was later identified as being from Ukraine, however, Ukraine has not officially admitted guilt.

No one was fast to acknowledge or correct the error, despite the fact that the news was spreading on social media and there was excitement for Ukrainian support in the face of an intense Russian attack.

According to a report from Defense News, if enacted, the plan would increase US support to $104 billion in less than a year.

Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young wrote to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, “We are urging the Congress to provide additional appropriations to ensure Ukraine has the funding, weapons and support it needs to defend itself and that vulnerable people continue to receive lifesaving aid.”

This year when taxpayers already are burdened by skyrocketing inflation and excessive costs, the $104 billion overall investment for Ukraine would cost close to $700 per taxpayer.

It seems difficult for the roughly 150 million American taxpayers to get a break.

On Tuesday, Pelosi and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy received a letter from twelve conservative organizations pleading with them not to pass the budget bill.

The group consists of the Concerned Veterans for America, the Heritage Foundation, and the America First Policy Institute.

Concerned Veterans for America deputy director John Byrnes said in a statement that “It would be a colossal mistake for congressional leaders to use this lame-duck session to fast-track yet another massive aid package to Ukraine as the United States faces historic inflation and a $31 trillion national debt.”

The U.S. “should not continue to write a blank check to Ukraine,” he concluded.

The $31 trillion national debt amount has only grown larger as a result of the government’s increased spending and taxation on middle-class Americans.

According to the Tax Foundation, income tax rates increased by 42 billion between 2018 and 2019, with the richest people paying over 25% of their income in taxes and the top 5% paying over 17%.

“In 2019, the top 1 percent of taxpayers accounted for more income taxes paid than the bottom 90 percent combined. The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid $612 billion in income taxes while the bottom 90 percent paid $461 billion in income taxes.”

Because of these costs, which disproportionately affect the wealthiest Americans, regular Americans suffer from rising pricing, job losses, automation in some industries, and other cost-cutting initiatives.

The easiest way to put it is through Thomas Sowell’s quote: “The fatal attraction of government is that it allows busybodies to impose decisions on others without paying any price themselves. That enables them to act as if there were no price, even when there are ruinous prices — paid by others.”
