Biden Prescribed Medication for High-Risk COVID Cases – How at Risk Is POTUS of Having a Severe Case?

    Published on

After testing positive with COVID-19, reports indicate that President Joe Biden is taking a treatment for the condition that has only been available since December.

The description of the drug may not instill trust in Biden’s health.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre acknowledged Biden’s usage of Paxlovid, according to the U.K. Daily Mail.

“He has begun taking Paxlovid,” remarked Jean-Pierre. “In accordance with CDC protocols, he will be quarantined at the White House while continuing to do all of his duties in full.”

Despite the positive tone of the press secretary, the Daily Mail stated that the medicine might indicate that White House physicians are concerned about Biden’s diagnosis.

The anti-viral medicine is designed for use by individuals who are likely to become extremely ill from the fatal virus, such as the elderly and those with pre-existing diseases such as heart disease.

Biden’s age of 79 places him in a high-risk group for individuals who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, a virus that is especially hazardous for the elderly. This raises the question: what is the likelihood that Biden may have a severe case of the disease?

Jean-Pierre was likely seeking to allay concerns by assuring reporters that Biden would continue completing his duties, but specialists have discovered that COVID-19 patients may rapidly worsen.

Pfizer, the same pharmaceutical firm that produced one of the COVID-19 vaccines presently in use, developed Paxlovid. The first permitted usage occurred on December 22, according to a CBS News article from the era.

More on this story via The Western Journal:

“Today’s authorization of Paxlovid represents another tremendous example of how science will help us ultimately defeat this pandemic, which, even two years in, continues to disrupt and devastate lives across the world,” Pfizer Chairman and CEO Albert Bourla said in a statement after that authorization, according to CBS.

“This breakthrough therapy, which has been shown to significantly reduce hospitalizations and deaths and can be taken at home, will change the way we treat COVID-19, and hopefully help reduce some of the significant pressures facing our healthcare and hospital systems.” CONTINUE READING…
