King Charles III of the United Kingdom received a call from President Joe Biden on Wednesday for the first time since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last week.
The queen passed away on Thursday at the age of 96, and the White House claimed that Biden made the conversation to “express his condolences.”
The statement claimed that the President “recalled fondly the Queen’s kindness and hospitality, including when she hosted him and the First Lady at Windsor Castle last June.”
“He also conveyed the great admiration of the American people for the Queen, whose dignity and constancy deepened the enduring friendship and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.”
According to the White House, the president asked Charles for one thing.
It added that “President Biden conveyed his wish to continue a close relationship with the King.”
I spoke with King Charles III to offer my condolences on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
I recalled her kindness, dignity, and constancy – and how she deepened the friendship between our nations. I also let the King know that I hope to continue a close relationship with him.

According to the New York Post, Charles and Biden both possess some similar political stances. He is well recognized for his environmental advocacy because he thinks it is important to slow the rate of global warming. The president has emphasized the need for his government to combat climate change.
Biden has stated that he intends to attend Monday’s funeral for Elizabeth, which will be held in London.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated she was unable to confirm whether the president would meet with Charles while on the trip during a news briefing on Wednesday.
The Westminster Abbey, which has a capacity of about 2,200 people, is where the funeral is being place. According to the Post, the British government only allocated two tickets for Americans.
The president and his wife, Jill Biden, are anticipated to use those.
During the U.N. Climate Change Conference summit in Glasgow, Scotland, in November, Biden last spoke with members of the royal family.
